Recording Arts Classes
There are two levels of recording classes offered in the Technology Program:
Introduction to Recording Arts (Music 165)
Recording Arts Workshop (Music 265)

The objective of the recording classes is to develop a firm knowledge base that will enable you to understand the principles of a modern professional recording studio with hands on experience.

Introduction to Recording Arts (Music 165) is an introduction to the theory and practice of audio recording. Topics include: the nature of sound, basic acoustics, analog and digital audio recording systems, terminology, microphone principals and usage, recording styles and multitrack recording systems.

Recording Arts Workshop (Music 265) builds on the foundation acquired in Music 165 and so, expands on the topics covered in that class. As a student, you will be expected to produce, record and mix several projects to the level that would be expected by a professional recording engineer.

The Music 165 class covers the basic concepts of the recording process such as acoustics, mixers, signal processors, microphones, and signal flow, and the recording process.

The Music 265 class builds on the foundation acquired in Music 165 and so, expands on the topics covered in that class. As a student, you will be expected to produce, record and mix several projects to the level that would be expected by a professional recording engineer.

Electronic Music Classes:
Music 161 and Music 261

There are two levels of Electronic Music:
Introduction to Electronic Music (Music 161) and
Advanced Electronic Music (Music 261)

In "The Box," there are 17 music stations. Each station has a 20" IMac computer, a Korg X50 synthesizer, Digital Performer sequencer software, Sibelius notation software, Audacity audio editing software and Musica Practica ear training software. The Box is available to all music students. For ear training and homework projects. To be able to use the sequencer progam you must be enrolled in one of the Electronic Music or Recording Arts classes.
